Toulouse-based label POP SUPÉRETTE, in association with Australian label CHAPTER MUSIC, is planning to reissue GUY BLACKMAN's 2008 CD-only album 'ADULT BABY' as a 12-inch vinyl LP.

The LP will include 16 tracks, i.e. the 15 from the original CD plus, as a bonus track, a sublime cover of GENE CLARK's 'ECHOES', recorded in 2002.

The LP (12-inch vinyl) includes :
- a full-color (outer) sleeve,
- a full-color inner sleeve, with printed lyrics on one side, and a reproduction of a Loulou Picasso painting on the other, created for the occasion of this release,
- a download code (.flac, .wav or mp3).

Record shops may know him as one of the two driving forces behind CHAPTER MUSIC (THE GOON SAX etc.), one of Australia's oldest independent labels, which he launched in 1992 at the age of 17. Much more confidential is his own solo musical career: GUY BLACKMAN is nonetheless an artist with a distinctive, haunting Brechtian voice; his debut album, 'ADULT BABY', released in 2008 on UNSTABLE APE RECORDS, is a must-have to all who know him.

POP SUPÉRETTE: If a Pop Supérette manifesto existed, its opening pages would read "the label that has nothing against LPs as long as they only contain hits". Well, here's a perfect illustration, namely the brilliant debut album by a certain GUY BLACKMAN entitled 'ADULT BABY', in reference to BRIAN WILSON's aborted project, although the comparison ends there. Short of containing nothing but hits, at least ten tracks from this album could have been chosen as singles. Blackman’s approach is obviously one of absolute exigency, rejecting the argument that weaker parts should be part of the work. And that they have as much right to exist as the strongest moments (one of the tragedies of DIY). In other words: no filler here, no easy way out!B

Musically, GUY BLACKMAN follows in the footsteps of the pink years of Island Records, when NICK DRAKE, JOHN CALE and KEVIN AYERS were around. But there's no 70's nostalgia on BLACKMAN's part - he's very much of his time, as evidenced by the superb funky track 'GAYLE', all white stiffness despite the brass arrangements.
