"Cheyenne Blue Sky" - A little story.

February 2012, Olivier de la Celle, aka 'Le Baron', introduce me to Dick Rivers and his wife Babette. Dick is renowned in France since the early 60's for being one of the top three singers having introduced the American culture, and especially Rock'N'Roll, in France.

His passion for Elvis Presley will not fade away during his entire life. His last live album recorded 6 month before his passing reveals a set of songs deep rooted into the rock-a-billy era.

So well, two month after meeting him I was performing as his opening act at the Olympia of Paris.

During this period of 6 years I have experienced thanks to my producer, his producer in the meantime, (Oli Le Baron) the creation of two albums : 'Mister D' and 'Rivers'. The lyrics arriving at the studio, sung by the producer, the pre-recording before their trip to Austin Texas, where they work in studio with the guitarist of Bob Dylan, Charlie Sexton. I have so many fond memories of this period in the backyard of my brain. Some are still very good, some others less, but that's what the life of musicians is all about ! Up and downs.

After a meal in the summer of 2018, when Dick told me that he was willing to record a voice on one of my songs, nobody knew he was about to pass away the very next spring and this would be his very last recording.

So this very last sessions occured by mid-october 2018 and it reveals the depht and the accuracy of his voice. And this beautiful organ of his was often compared to Johnny Cash in his later years.

'Cheyenne Blue Sky' is the epic narration of the Washita battle, the one conducted by the infamous General Custer and is portrayed from a Cheyenne's deportee point of view.

The ultime 45 Tours

From Dick Rivers' fan point of view, this pressing will be the last one, one to be ending his long career made of more than 55 years in the business; regardless the fashion of the different decades his been living through. So its no surprise to say that this pressing will be a commemorative one.
From « Ma P'tite Amie est vache » in 1961, recorded with his first band Les chats Sauvages (The wild cats) to « Cheyenne Blue Sky » en 2018, Dick filled his life with passion in a more than common and passionate way. Many are the famous american musicans who played with him. Chris Spedding was one of them. This pressing will be a testimony and a celebration of this last recording.

"The Fruit, The escape, The Barbed Wire" is a bootleg from the early sessions of the "Change", the lyrics echoing the germanic Lorelei. The song has been overdubbed, mixed and mastered for this special release as a gift for all the fans.

Goal --> 215 copies : Making a videoclip

The goal here is going over 150 copies to 215 and releasing a videoclip to celebrate the event. I already started th selection of footages with the videast Pat Marcel who's already been working for Dick Rivers on his former videoclip "Pas de Vainqueur".

This videoclip will be dedicated to all the community with some rare footages of Dick Rivers on tour, as well as rare photos of Native Americans in the early XXth century.
