Agostino Di Giorgio’s Story

With over four decades in the jazz world,
Agostino Di Giorgio has established himself
as a highly respected performer
and dedicated educator.
His career began in New York, where he immersed himself in the jazz tradition, studying with masters such as Chuck Wayne, Barry Harris, Attila Zoller, Jaki Byard, Joe Diorio, and Remo Palmier.

As a student and protégé of Chuck Wayne, Agostino had the unique opportunity to have with legendary guitar maker Jimmy D’Aquisto,

as His luthier,overhauling and Maintaining his instrument. Where the visits would consist of many hours , filled with much discusion. D'Aquisto is considered perhaps of the most renowned luthiers in guitar history.

Di Giorgio also worked closely with Chuck Wayne to document and develop his method books for jazz guitar, focusing on Wayne's innovative picking technique, which emphasizes precision, fluidity,
and economy of motion. and a comprehensive method to organize € part Harmony to the guitar.

This approach has since inspired generations of modern virtuoso guitarists, also spanning guitarists of other genres, from fusion to heavy metal.

Additionally, Agostino studies with the great Jazz painist and educator Barry Harris’s , led Agostino to be a teaching assistant for many years for Harris in Europe on week long masterclasses/workshops across Europe.

Agostino's career as an educator includes over 18 years as a professor at the prestigious Landes Konservatorium in Austria, where he taught jazz guitar, jazz harmony ,jazz History and improvisation for all instruments.

He also offered special classes on guitar building, covering topics such as history of jazz the guitar instrument setup and much more.

Many of Agostino’s students have gone on to successful careers as recording artists and professors
at conservatories and music institutions. Among them, Pasquale Grasso has gained recognition
as one of the foremost jazz guitar virtuosos of today.

Agostino has been invited to deliver lectures and masterclasses at conservatories and music schools across Europe, including Italy, Austria, France, Hungary, and Germany.
