Hello,

From many years, I have a 70 square meter building in Bordeaux downtown. I really didn’t know what I could do with. So I did not use it since more than 15 years! I didn’t a commercial project. I needed something I liked, something that could give me joy to me and which would serve others. What to do was obvious, but I didn’t see it until… this spring! A project came on… like when a heart open up a door!

I would like to create a place for the body expression

(Dance, body awareness)

and art expression

It could be a space for workshop about health, food… And with the quick rhythm of life, we need to take a breath… So I would like this place propose meditation, to take a break too. Breathing is the first movement of the body.

The building exists. At least the 4 walls and the roof exist. But it has been sleeping for so long. I didn’t want to forgive it. This was an old foundry, with a family story, the one of several life, 2 women and 1 man… my gran mother, my mother and my father. They gave energy all around their life. They took risks and lived with intensity. They did as they could in their time. Thanks to them I always wanted to go further. Then my life became an overtaking way of life. I used to live in the US (Chicago, Washington DC, New Jersey…). I travelled in Canada, Madagascar, Kenya, Egypt, Mexico,…

Then I would like this space alive again… for all that are not here and the present persons. I would like to offer a new life to this place, new expression form, new way to excel, and may be a space of healing.

If you would like to be a prince for the sleeping beauty, there are several steps first to realize to wake up the castle! Isolate the roof and the walls, make up the floor, the heating… Everything is simple. But it’s big… so it’s a big project.

So as it was a foundry before, it was not easy to think about a dancing room and body expression and painting exposition… Mainly this is why it took me years and years before I got the Idea. Never I could imagine dancing and sweating body and soul, where the sweat was the daily of these workers of the dark, in the dust, and where the heat was hard and unsustainable. But today, everything feels for me right and evident… Evidence... for every… dance (evidance). This hight under the roof (5m)… an incredible transformation! A giant foot, foot of one century between the industry which is a huge artwork of transformation of the material and the dance, transformation of the artwork of our matter… the body… our first matter.. This body so incredible.

I would like this place to be welcoming. I would like everyone to feel great there, relaxed and happy to open up their body, mind… kind of freedom.

I would like to put on the wall a natural painting with lime.

As for the activities, it will be a story of meeting new people and nice propositions… I have already ideas... But right now, I have to think about the work in the building to make everything ready.

Activities for everyone, men & women...

I would like to have a singer coming up to help people discover their voice and creativity.

Courses of body awareness could be proposed too. My Childhood’s friend was dancer at the Opera of Paris and now she teaches yoga and body awareness thanks to her experience and long training she took after the dance at Opera Garnier. I have so many ideas !

The Pilates method helps too for treatment of body healthiness as chronic lumbago to stop pain… Cf an article for a review : La Touche R, Escalante K, Linares MT. Body tensions can block our well-being. Dance-therapy can help us for sure. It’s even use for the high diseases or just to feel all right.
